Journey to Northwest Malaysia

Summer 2007, 2008, and now, 2010. I always visit Penang at this time of the year. This time, I went there again with these people:

All of us are taking summer course.

Sadly, the days we spent in Penang was mostly cloudy.

Our first stop when arrived in here was the place that we are staying in, Cozy Home Inn. This place offers rooms at quite a considerably cheap price for us to put a night or two in.

The inn provide almost everything that you will need during your stay like Wifi, TV, and etc. The only complain I had was the blanket they provided. Apparently, the blanket was quite thin, not enough to keep me warm at night (tried setting the air-cond temperature high but it got stuffy so just left it on medium).

After checking into the inn, we headed out for dinner. Since I've been to this place before I wanted to have it again. So we went here, Weld Quay (Tree Shade) Seafood Restaurant.

This salad prawn is pricey but it's worth the money because it is awesome!

I'm not a fan of this but I can say it tasted quite nice too!

Their fried Yar Char Kwai is not bad too.. I just got to love fried stuff =X

Their soft shell crab is also delicious! Can never have enough of it xD

Sadly, among all the dishes we ordered, this fish tasted most mediocre. Overall, it was a very fulfilling meal the first meal we had in Penang :) Later, we went for supper in New Lane. Apparently, there are many food stalls here. We didn't know what is nice here so we just simply ordered:

and all of these tasted..

like this! mediocre! I can say nothing is nice here IMHO!

After supper, we went to experience some night life in Penang. We went to this place in super casual clothing - slippers and shorts! If we were in KL we definitely can't enter such places already =X

After having a little drink, we head back to the inn to recharge ourselves for the next day's activities.

Morning comes and our breakfast is no other than the Penang famous char koay teow. We went to Ah Leng's because the other one that we wanted to go haven't open yet.

This plate of Char Koay Teow costs RM9.50 if I wasn't mistaken. I didn't set high expectation on this so it tasted above average. Others who set high expectation for this definitely say its not that nice.

However, they prefer this Hokkien Mee at this place. They said it is nice but for me it's so-so only maybe because I'm not a fan of it and tasted way better ones.

Our next stop is again the Char Koay Teow place that we originally wanted to try.

This one costs RM9. For me it's just another Char Koay Teow which tasted above average but this time others say it is nicer than the first one we went.

Our next activity is trekking to Pantai Kerachut.

The pathway to the beach wasn't that bad. If you ask me it's some sort like climbing Mount Kinabalu but easier a little.

After around an hour plus trekking, we finally reach our destination.

It's quite a nice beach actually. Very clean!

Apparently, most of us have no energy to trek back so luckily we managed to get a ride back in a boat. After that we find food to eat to regain back our energy. Unfortunately, I didn't take much picture after that so I'll skip what we had for dinner.

The next morning we went to buy those Penang biscuit.

And then we went to Island Glades and have this Chee Cheong Fun.

It was superb! The downside is eating too much will make you feel sick of it. So control yourselves peeps if you were to eat this!

We headed to Kek Lok Si after that to camwhore take a look at the new Guan Yin statue.

Right after that, we head down and to eat this famous asam laksa which I think is so-so only. Nyonya Laksa FTW!

Then we head to this place to try the famous Cendol.

We had a consensus that the Cendol here wasn't that nice =X

Since that Cendol doesn't suit our taste-buds, we go for another better dessert. We left Penang after this dessert and head on to Ipoh to visit..

this little kid :P That's all for this post as I'm lazy to type anymore today xD
